Information for Families 2016-2017 | Cedarburg School District

March 13, 2017
Cedarburg students in grades 3-10 will be participating in the Wisconsin Forward Exam between March 20, 2017 and May 5, 2017. The schedule below outlines the testing dates for all tested grade levels in our school. The Forward Exam is a summative, online assessment that gauges your child's achievement in the content areas tested compared to other students in the state. The exam will assess students’ understanding in Mathematics and English Language Arts in grades 3-8, Science in grades 4 and 8, and Social Studies in grades 4, 8, and 10. This test is untimed, so we plan for ample time to allow children to finish, and we are able to take short sections of the exam each day, so as not to over-test our children. Your child’s teacher will provide a more detailed test schedule.

  • Provide a healthy breakfast; and
  • Review the helpful information that is attached about the Forward Exam.
As a district, we encourage all students to participate in our state assessments. We have prepared for our students to perform beyond the scope of this assessment with the teaching and learning activities in our district curriculum. The Forward Exam is a part of our well balanced assessment program. This exam and other student performance data provide us with a complete profile of student growth. If there is a desire to opt your child out of the state testing, please contact me directly as the state law requires a written request to the principal stating you wish to opt out of the Forward Exam.
Attached is an Informational Brochure for Families which gives more information about the assessment including its purpose, what scores will be provided, and how the scores will be used.
Please contact me or your child’s teacher with any questions you may have.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Jayne Holck
