Kapco Kids2Kids Toy Drive

Parkview is again participating in the Kapco Kids2Kids Toy Drive. Kapco’s Kids2Kids Christmas in conjunction with 620 WTMJ is a fun way of teaching children the value of giving. Please take the children in your life shopping and allow them to select and purchase toys for kids who are less fortunate in our community. They can then bring in the NEW, UNWRAPPED toys to school to donate. The toy drive will begin Monday, December 3 and end on Friday, December 14. The class that donates the most will get a special treat! Questions? Contact Emily Franke efranke@cedarburg.k12.wi.us, or Mary Jo Canhammcanham@cedarburg.k12.wi.us

Please make sure your child is dressed for the weather with hats, gloves, mittens (snow pants and boots if needed). Please also remember to label your child's clothing in case it gets lost in the hallway.

Reading Goals:

This past week, your child set his/her reading goal and should have brought this reading goal sheet home. This will be due in January. Attached is the letter that was sent home. Children will complete a Seesaw activity to accompany this assignment so each child can reflect on his/her progress in January. Your child can count books read at home and school in order to achieve his/her goal.

Observations of Moon Phases

Image result for phases of the moon songThis week 3rd grade will be blasting off to learn about space! Your child will learn about the Earth's rotation and revolution, moon phases, facts about the sun and other stars. In December, students will research and write an informative research paper on a planet of their choice.
Today your child brought home a Moon Phase Calendar in which they are expected to observe and document the phase of the moon nightly. This will be an at home project that your child will need help with. If you can not observe the moon due to weather, you can log on to http://www.moongiant.com/calendar/ . This site will list the phases of the moon for the entire month of November. Students can also use this site as a resource to check their work. Moon Calendars are due back Monday, November 26th.
