Nutrition Unit & Picture Homework

Nutrition Link (Click here)

This week, your child will begin to learn about Nutrition. We will teach your child about creating a healthy plate that includes vegetable, fruits, dairy, grains and protein as part of their daily diet. In order to help with this fun unit we are asking that you prepare some items at home and bring them into school.

This week your child will need: Food Labels  Due Wed., March 1st
1 healthy and 1 non-healthy food label that includes the name of the item (you can write in on the back of the food label) and the nutritional food information. We will compare and contrast the difference between the two labels. (See example of picture below)

Healthy Meal Pictures Due Friday, March 3rd
Your child can cut out pictures from magazines or food ads and create a healthy breakfast, lunch or dinner meal. Your child should have 1 item from each of the categories listed: grain, vegetable, fruit, dairy and protein.

***If you have extra nutrition items, please send in for other children who might forget to bring them in. Thanks so much!

Next week, your child will be logging what food your child eats for each meal. More information will come home.

Please remember to scroll down to check for Jump Rope for Heart Information too!
