We hope you had an amazing spring break! We will be circling around to personal narrative writing this quarter. This would be a great opportunity to write about a small memory from our recent time off on spring break. Students will write personal narratives about real experiences focusing on one “small moment” and stretch that moment with specific details. They will also learn writing techniques from other authors and apply it to their own writing. Finally, students will focus on the writing process to thoroughly plan, edit, revise and publish their writing.
To help inspire this writing process, we would like students to bring in either an item or picture from their break that is associated with a memory. If the item is too big or expensive, we suggest to take a picture and bring that in instead. Some items may include: a small shell, a keychain, or t-shirt. Remember that these items should inspire your child to write about a small moment in detail from a special time. *This does not need to necessarily be from a trip. Any special momentum or experience would be appropriate.
Please send this item or picture in by Friday, April 13th.
Thank you,
3rd Grade Teachers
