The third graders are beginning to explore and understand Simple Machines in science class. Your child will learn about several simple machines and the purpose of each machine in our daily lives.
We would like your child to design and create an arcade game using recycled & re-purposed materials implementing the different simple machines. Various grocery stores usually have extra boxes available. This project can be done with a partner but we are leaving that up to parent discretion, as parents will have to coordinate times for your children to work together on this project. If your child is interested in working with another student please email your teacher.
The arcade project is due Tuesday, May 8th. Your child will be able to view other third grade projects on display that day. Our K4 buddies will also join us to see what their buddy created.
Parkview’s Science Fair is Tuesday, May 8th from 6:00-7:30. Each student/group will present their project at the Science Fair that night. Attendance is not required but we are encouraging participation. Please let us know if your child is unavailable that evening. On the night of the Simple Machines Arcade, please have your child ready to explain his/her machine to the visitors! The arcade should be functional, fun, made from recycled materials, and use simple machines as part of the project! Your child is required to stay by his/her game throughout the hour and a half.
*Please have your child’s project at school by the

Your child can bring his/her project in at 8:45 on
