Reading Quilt

Dear family,

During the months of April and May, we will have a new system for keeping track of reading and math minutes. We will trust that your child is practicing either multiplication facts (if your child was DV or NS on quarter 3 progress report) or division facts (if your child was SC or EX on quarter 3 progress report) each night for 5 to 10 minutes. You can log the fact minutes in the assignment book.

For reading, your child will be required to read 6 different genres for each month (6 for April and 6 for May). Once your child has read all 12 genres of books, your child will earn a picnic in the park with the entire 3rd grade on Friday, June 2nd. If your child reads genres and completes the entire reading quilt, he/she will get a special prize. Tonight, this reading quilt will come home. Please read over the information and email your child's teacher with questions.
