Jump Rope For Heart:

Parkview will again be participating in Jump Rope for Heart this year. The date for the third grade event is Tuesday, February 28th from 3:45-5:30pm.

This event offers many benefits. First, the money our school raises will help fund potential life saving research into heart disease and stroke. This event will also teach the importance of heart health, community service, staying fit and the importance of physical activity.

Your child will have an opportunity to raise money to the American Heart Association by participating in this event, but is not required to fundraise  to participate. If your child receives any donations, they will be eligible for various thank you gifts from the American Heart Association as well as a ticket to see the Milwaukee Bucks ( any child that raises $10 or more will receive a ticket).

Permission slips were sent home this week. Please return them by Friday, February 24th in order for your child to participate. If you have any questions please refer back to the note that was sent home or contact the amazing Ms. Knier at rknier@cedarburg.k12.wi.us.

Weekly Update 2/6/17

Reading & Math Calendars:

Thanks for your yummy snack mix donations. The third graders had a blast eating a treat for their reading and math minutes!


Also, to build reading stamina in quarter 3, we will be increasing the nightly reading minutes to 20 minutes per night. This will be reflected on the February calendar with 400 min. instead of 300 minutes. Please contact your child's teacher with questions.

Your child should also practice his/her multiplication facts using flashcards, playing math games such as Multiplication Top It with a deck of cards, Multiplication Roll Em or using computer sites: http://interactivesites.weebly.com/math.html

Multiplication Ice Cream Party

Your child should be studying their multiplication facts up to 10. Students who know all of their facts up to 10 will earn an ice cream party. For each fact family they learn, they can earn more toppings at the party. The goal is to learn them by the end of May. Here is how they will earn the ice cream party:

0-1         Earn the bowl       6-7 Earn candy topping

2-3        Earn the spoon        8-9 Earn second candy topping

4-5        Earn one scoop of ice cream     10  whip cream or cherry

We will be testing them weekly and they will keep track of their progress. Please reinforce this practice with your child!

The Third Grade Teachers

January Reading and Math Calendar

Your child's reading and math calendar is due on Wednesday February 1st.  Please make sure that the minutes are totaled and that you have signed it before handing it in. We will be having our reading party on Friday February 3rd! The theme is a sports party (because the Super Bowl, but too bad we aren't celebrating with the Packers), and you child may wear any sports wear that they would like. And since no sports party is complete without some snacks, please send in something that we can use to make a Chex mix. (Corn Chex, Rice Chex, Multigrain Chex, pretzels, Goldfish crackers, dried fruit, chocolate chips etc.)  PLEASE NO PEANUTS as we have students with allergies. Please send in your item by Friday, Feb. 3rd!

Winter Carnival 1/26/17

Tomorrow evening (Friday, 1/27) is our Winter Carnival here at Parkview.  Thank you for all the donations put towards the 3rd Grade Raffle Basket.

Board Games and Hot Cocoa

      On Tuesday, January 23, students are invited to bring in Board Games for our PBIS school-wide celebration.  Our school will enjoy playing board games with friends and other classrooms while enjoying some yummy hot cocoa! Great job to our students for demonstrating character traits to be proud of!
