Jump Rope For Heart:

Parkview will again be participating in Jump Rope for Heart this year. The date for the third grade event is Tuesday, February 28th from 3:45-5:30pm.

The children who are in the Variety Show practice are the ONLY third graders that can switch to Monday, Feb. 27th from 3:45-5:30. The rest of the third graders should keep the Tuesday date for Jump Rope for Heart. Please indicate on permission slip if your child is coming MONDAY. Thanks so much!

This event offers many benefits. First, the money our school raises will help fund potential life saving research into heart disease and stroke. This event will also teach the importance of heart health, community service, staying fit and the importance of physical activity.

Your child will have an opportunity to raise money to the American Heart Association by participating in this event, but is not required to fundraise  to participate. If your child receives any donations, they will be eligible for various thank you gifts from the American Heart Association as well as a ticket to see the Milwaukee Bucks ( any child that raises $10 or more will receive a ticket).

Permission slips were sent home this week. Please return them by Friday, February 24th in order for your child to participate. If you have any questions please refer back to the note that was sent home or contact the amazing Ms. Knier at rknier@cedarburg.k12.wi.us.

Typing Agent

The district uses Typing Agent as our designated typing program for students. The goal for third graders is to log on at school for 30 minutes per week. If your child would like to log on at home, your child can also practice his/her typing skills in his/her spare time or on the weekends. All your child has to do is log onto the Internet, Parkview website, click on top of Parkview site on student tab, then click on Typing Agent. The link is also here, as well as under our Third Grade Resources and Links. Then your child enters his/her username and password.

Recorders

We will be starting our recorder unit very soon in music class! This is an exciting experience for third grade, and a great way to introduce students to playing instruments. Please visit the following link from Mrs. Kesler in regards to ordering your child a recorder.

Culver's Night Feb. 9th

Save The Date – No Cook Night – Culver’s Fundraiser

Mark your calendars for Fundraiser Night at Culver's of Grafton! Skip cooking and head to Culver's on Thursday, February 9 from 10:30am until 10:00pm. You can eat LUNCH and DINNER there! Present attached coupon and Culver's will donate 10% of each family's purchase to Parkview Elementary. Eat with family and friends and help support your local school. *You must present coupon for Parkview to receive credit-they cannot use your phone for flyer.

Weekly Update 2/6/17

Reading & Math Calendars:

Thanks for your yummy snack mix donations. The third graders had a blast eating a treat for their reading and math minutes!


Also, to build reading stamina in quarter 3, we will be increasing the nightly reading minutes to 20 minutes per night. This will be reflected on the February calendar with 400 min. instead of 300 minutes. Please contact your child's teacher with questions.

Your child should also practice his/her multiplication facts using flashcards, playing math games such as Multiplication Top It with a deck of cards, Multiplication Roll Em or using computer sites: http://interactivesites.weebly.com/math.html
