Reading Quilt
Starting over Spring Break, we are going to
begin an at-home reading quilt project with our students. This is will be
taking the place of the reading calendars. The children will be asked to do outside reading,
representative of each type of book listed on their quilt square. This will be an on-going project and should
be returned for check in on Tuesday May 1st and completed on Thursday, May 31st.
For your child to color in a patch on their school quilt square, he/she will need to turn in specific information to their teacher (book title, author, what type of book it was and a parent signature). Once the information has been verified with your child’s teacher, they will be able to color in the particular patch related to the book they read on their portion of the classroom quilt.

We will continue with
the monthly reading celebrations as an in-school incentive for this
program. For your child to qualify for
the monthly celebrations, he/she
will need to have completed 6 of the
choices on the attached page each month.
To qualify for the June 2nd,
he/she will need to have read a total of
12 books. The final celebration will
be held on Friday, June 8th. To qualify
for this “extra special” reading party, your child will need to have completed at least 12 books total from the attached page. If your child completes their whole quilt square, they will get a
special prize from the teachers.

Book Orders Due on FRIDAY
BOOK ORDERS DUE ON FRIDAY!!
Encouraging reading is one of the most important things we can do to help your child succeed. It can be tough finding the right books to keep them interested, which is why we are so excited that our classes will be participating in Scholastic Reading Club this school year. We will send home the catalogs to browse. Follow the directions below on how to order. ALL orders must be done online! You can select the titles you would like and you MUST PAY online as well. We will not accept any checks (they will be sent back to you).
3rd grade activation code: NCQNC
The code is used for ALL 3 third grades. It is under Mrs. Moldenhauer’s class so we can earn more points for FREE book club books etc.
Book Orders are due Friday, March 23rd by 3:30pm
Here is how to order books:
- ENTER the one-time Class Activation Code NCQNC
- SHOP from a carefully curated selection of the best books and value packs
- SUBMIT your order and earn FREE Books for our classroom

Discovery World- Parent Chaperones
Hello,
Your child will be going to Discovery World on Thursday, May 3rd. This will be an all day field trip. If you are interested in being a chaperone, please let your child's teacher know by Thursday, March 29th. We have to send an invoice and payment prior to the field trip date so knowing how many parents would like to help out would be beneficial so we do not have to turn chaperones away. The cost for parents will be $8.00. Student cost will be different due to a Kohl's Cares grant. More information to come! Thanks!
